Hotel Dom Carlos Park is located in Lisbon near: Next to the hotel is the Praça Marques de Pombal, Lisbon's main intersection traffic point, which has a history of its own , as it honours a Portuguese hero who was Prime Minister to King Joseph I in the 18th century. The Marques de Pombal was in charge of the reconstruction of Lisbon after it suffered an earthquake in 1755. Not only did he develop a totally new urban design, but he established a particular style that was meant to outlive eventual shakes of the earth. The Pombal Style consisted of really severe lines and a sobriety that would keep the Pombaline Lisbon on its feet at any stake.
One of the few survivors of that earthquake was the St George`s Castle, a sightseeing must in Lisbon. Located on top of the highest hill in the city, it is here where you will get the best of your panoramic photos to take back home.
After you enjoy its gardens, full of Moorish walls, fountains and terraces, have a look at the view of the Alfama, the old district in the Portuguese capital. This neighbourhood is another obligated tour during your visit to Lisbon. It is a medieval quarter where the Moors used to live before their expulsion in the time of discoveries: cobbled streets, narrow alleys and antiques are part of its charm, along with its many cafes. On the return, passing by the Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon's principal avenue, you are invited to visit many boutiques and shops.
Finally, when arriving, if you feel like spending some time outdoors, you can rest a while at the cosy Camillo Castelo Branco garden, which is right in front of the hotel.
